Many thanks to the second round judges who awarded my manuscript DAUGHTER OF ENVY the Silver Medal in the Ancient to 16th Century Category of the Historical Novel Society 2024 First Chapters Competition! I am humbled and beyond pleased to accept this award. It is gratifying to know that experts in historical fiction found the chapters well-written and engaging; I hope publishers will, too! Just the boost I needed to move full-speed ahead with my current manuscript, a dual-timeline mystery novel set in Amboise in 1560 and 1989 and centered around the conspiracy that attempted to kidnap the king.

Congratulations Julianne! I’ve followed you since the 2000s on Historical Fiction forum, anxiously awaiting publication of your novels. French HF is a particular interest of mine and there is such a dearth of it for non-French readers, especially eras pre Louis DIV/French Rev. if it’s possible to read any of your writing “unofficially” please let me know! How kind of you, Tsjmom3! You don't know how much your comment means to me. Publishers perceive a lack of interest in these earlier time periods, which makes "breaking in" so much harder for new authors. FIngers crossed that my persistence (and yours!) will pay off soon!
